ORLANDO—Gail Bowden has earned SVN Florida’s top advisor award for a strong performance in 2015. What’s more, the 30-year commercial real estate professional based in Sarasota is one of SVN’s top three advisors in the world.
Bowden specializes in healthcare real estate investment properties and industrial properties. She conducts most of her business in Florida but does span the country.
“Within the industry, women make up less than 20% of all commercial real estate brokers,”Jerry Anderson, executive managing director of SVN Florida, tells GlobeSt.com. “Yet at SVN, women brokers have always earned high recognition as national top 10 performers. We believe there can and should be more within the profession, which is why we recruit and promote talented women like Gail.”
Bowden ranks among the top 2% of SVN commercial real estate advisors in the United States. In 2014 and 2015, she earned Partners Circle status, a prestigious designation for SVN advisors.
“It’s a very exciting time for women in commercial real estate,” Bowden, an SVN Florida advisor, tells GlobeSt.com. “More and more women are joining the field and having great success in a very male-dominated arena. In my opinion, this is due to women mentoring and supporting each other, along with the industry, in general, realizing that women have a great deal to offer.”
Notably, 10% of SVN Florida’s top 25 advisors also placed in the top 100 of SVN’s international list of its highest performers. With 200 locations in more than 500 markets, SVN has offices throughout the United States, Mexico City, Mexico, Toronto, Canada and Moscow, Russia.
“I’m fortunate enough to work with SVN, which provides women a platform to achieve great success,” Bowden says. “The women of SVN have recently formed a ‘Ladies of SVN’ group that gives associates a place to inspire, motivate, mentor and encourage one another. Over the next five years, it’s my belief that the industry will continue to see more and more women excelling and rising to the top in commercial real estate.”
Bowden has several honors in recent years, including ranking among the top five producers in Florida for 2013 and 2014. She also has been recognized multiple times as the Sarasota office’s Top Commercial Real Estate Advisor of the Year and earned several Top Sale Transaction awards. An active member of her community, Bowden is a volunteer and auxiliary member of Safe Place & Rape Crisis Center and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
